Fabulous Faculty: John Kessel

Please join us Thursday, September 25 at 5:30 p.m. for a special reading. Professor John Kessel will read from The Baum Plan for Financial Independence and Other Stories . An astonishing, long-awaited collection of stories that intersect imaginatively with Pride and Prejudice , Frankenstein , The Wizard of Oz , and Flannery O'Connor. Includes John Kessel's modern classic "Lunar Quartet" sequence about life on the moon. This event is co-sponsored by the NCSU English Club.

Dr. John Kessel, a professor in the NCSU English Department since 1982, is a founder of the MFA program in Creative Writing, and currently the director of Creative Writing. He is the author of numerous short stories, novels, and plays, including Good News from Outer Space , Corrupting Dr. Nice , and The Pure Product . In addition, he has edited several anthologies, including Rewired: The Post-Cyberpunk Anthology and Feeling Very Strange: The Slipstream Anthology .

This reading will be in the Assembly Room, (2nd Floor, East Wing). Light refreshments will be served.
