The Burlington Textiles Library Vertical Files contain trade literature and company information related to textile products and science.

The Burlington Textiles Library supported curriculum and research programs in textile chemistry, textile materials and management, and fiber and polymer science in the College of Textiles of North Carolina State University.

Biographical/historical note

From 1944 to 1991, the Burlington Textiles Library was located in Nelson Hall. In 1991 it moved into room 4411 of the College of Textiles complex on the Centennial Campus at North Carolina State University. The Library provided services to faculty and staff, students, and the NC State Centennial Campus community and university affiliates. The Library supported the curriculum and research programs in textile chemistry, textile materials and management, and fiber and polymer science. By 2013, the Burlington Textiles Library’s collection had become a part of the James B. Hunt, Jr. Library, also on Centennial Campus.

Scope/content

The Burlington Textiles Library Vertical Files contain trade literature, product samples, and company and organization information, related to textile science and management.

Arrangement

Collection is arranged roughly in alphabetical order by company, or in a few cases, subject. The first set of files contains trade literature including a great deal of product information. There is a second set of files at the end of the series comprised predominantly of company and organization information.

Use of these materials

The NC State University Libraries generally claims only physical ownership of most Special Collections materials. These materials are made available for use in research, teaching, and private study, pursuant to U.S. Copyright law. Libraries staff are unable to advise on copyright and other legal matters; the user assumes full responsibility for any use of the materials, including but not limited to, infringement of copyright and publication rights of reproduced materials.
