The Nutrition Research Institute (NRI) Records, 2007 - 2009, contain digital files containing new staff features, public releases, and a mission and recruitment plan.
The Nutrition Institute at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill uses metabolic biotechnology to study differences in human metabolism and nutrient requirements. This research is in turn used to advance nutrition solutions and work towards preventing cancer and obesity through community and clinical based solutions.
The Nutrition Research Institute is a part of the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill’s Gillings School of Public Health and is located in Kannapolis, North Carolina. The Institute opened in Fall 2008, and its facilities include a metabolic kitchen, clinical facilities, a cognitive assessment suite, and research and office spaces.
The Institute researches metabolism and nutrients and aims to understand metabolic differences in humans and identify predispositions for cancer and obesity. It attempts to address these issues through community and clinical solutions and by individualizing recommendations with “precision nutrition,” rather than offering the same treatment for each patient.
The Nutrition Research Institute (NRI) Records, 2007 - 2009, contain digital files with announcements highlighting new staff members and research personnel; public releases detailing cooking demonstrations and the HARVEST Health and Wellness Festival; a 2009 newsletter; and a mission and recruitment plan detailing the Institute’s goals and methods for development. Topics in these records include: NRI staff members and their research projects, public programming, institute development, brain function, nutrition, diet, metabolic variations, cancer research, and obesity research. All materials are digital.
