About This Exhibit

The SECU Public Fellows Internship Program is an initiative which supports internships with Nonprofit and Government Organizations in North Carolina. The SECU (State Employees’ Credit Union) Foundation provides funding for 20 NC State students to participate in internships where their projects and research directly impact North Carolina communities.

This exhibit documents the experiences of SECU Public Fellows in summer 2024. Each student shares details of the organization they worked with, their tasks and responsibilities, and the data project they completed for their internship. Additionally, the Fellows reflect on what they learned from the experience, connecting their learning with specific career readiness competencies that internships uniquely help students develop.

These students shared in the impactful community work of organizations such as Wild South, Psychology for All, and the Cape Fear Valley Health Foundation. In turn, they were rewarded with meaningful experiences of personal growth, real-world skill development, and community connectedness.
