Join us for a talk featuring NC State alum, sneakerhead and amateur DJ, Dr. Aaron Dial. In this talk Dr. Dial will speak to his work on discussing the connections between sneakers as material objects and Black bodies. Using retro sneakers, Dr. Dial will discuss how sneakerhead culture speaks to both sporting and societal cultural impacts.
Dr. Dial is a Postdoctoral Researcher at Purdue University, and earned his PhD from North Carolina State University in the Communication, Rhetoric, and Digital Media (CRDM) program.
There will be a workshop after the talk for only NC State University students. If you are interested in participating in the workshop, please register here.
This talk is part of Making Space, an NC State University Libraries event series that features underrepresented groups in science and technology.
