Making in the Classroom, Making in the Lab: Open Source Electronics for Research and Instruction
Open to Faculty and Graduate Students only! Beginners encouraged.
The NCSU Libraries are excited to host a 1/2 day workshop on developing DIY tools for research and pedagogy. Learn the basics of electronics prototyping and understand how to use sensors to collect data, how to create e-textiles and wearable technologies, and how to develop interactive and cloud-connected (“Internet of Things”) projects.
Throughout this workshop we will only use accessible and easy-to-learn tools that you can check out from the Libraries, with most of our work occurring within the the open source Arduino platform. Participants will be given a SparkFun Inventor's Kit and Wi-Fi board that they can take home after the workshop for further learning and experimentation.
The workshop will be taught by visiting instructors from SparkFun Electronics’ Education team. No previous electronics experience is required, and there will be something to learn for everyone. The workshop takes place in the D. H. Hill Jr. Library Makerspace, which provides a wealth of tools and support for working with electronics.
Open to Faculty and Graduate Students only! We are excited about the impact these tools can have in instruction and research, and we encourage participants to consider future collaboration with the Libraries’ Makerspace program.
