The College of Management at North Carolina State University was created in 1992, and its MBA program was established in 2002. The history of economics, business, and management education at North Carolina State University goes back to the early 1900s. A School of Science and Business existed from 1923 until the 1930s. After this date some economics and business courses were available in the Basic Division and later the School of Humanities and Social Sciences (later College of Humanities and Social Sciences, known as CHASS). Agricultural economics courses were available in the School (later College) of Agriculture and Life Sciences. In the early 1970s, the university again began offering undergraduate degrees in business management and accounting through the Department of Economics and Business in CHASS. In December 2010 the college received a naming gift which resulted in it being called the Lonnie C. Poole, Jr. College of Management.
