The Department of Crop and Soil Sciences in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences at North Carolina State University has its origins in the Department of Agronomy found in 1924. In 1956 the department was split into a Crops Department and a Soil Department, and the two were reunited in 2016. The Department through rigorous research and education tackles challenges like food security, protection of natural resources and air quality, and sustainable production of food, feed, and fiber.
