The North Carolina State University Committee for the Handicapped was created in 1980 at North Carolina State University to address the activities that would enable the university to be in compliance with section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973. The committee's duties were to make recommendations regarding development and implementation of policies and procedures in the area of services to handicapped students, and to support and advise the office of Handicapped Student Services and other university offices in regard to their responsibilities and services to handicapped students.
