The records of Eta Kappa Nu, Beta Eta Chapter (North Carolina State University's chapter) contain the petition to form the chapter, membership rosters, meeting minutes, roll calls, and a history of the chapter. Materials range in date from 1938 to 2005. Eta Kappa Nu is a national honorary society for electrical engineers.

The faculty of the electrial engineering department at NC State met in 1937 to discuss the possibility of establishing a chapter of Eta Kappa Nu, which they applied for and were granted in the following year (1938). As of 2011, NC State's chapter remained active.

Biographical/historical note

The first chapter of Eta Kappa Nu, a national honorary society for electrical engineers, was formed at the University of Illinois in 1904. The faculty of the electrial engineering department at NC State met in 1937 to discuss the possibility of establishing a chapter of the organization, which they applied for and were granted in the following year (1938). NC State's chapter of Eta Kappa Nu is officially known as the Beta Eta Chapter. Members are recognized and selected to join the chapter based on their outstanding scholarship in the fields of both electrical and computer engineering. As of 2008, NC State's chapter remained active.
