This is the first volume of minutes from the newly-formed North Carolina State College Faculty Senate. It includes a brief administrative history of the Faculty Senate, membership and committee lists, and discussions on the following: insurance and benefits for faculty and their families; long-term growth of the campus; procedures for conferring of honorary degrees; the College's resistance to a proposed State Board of Higher Education; and the College's decision to accept the court rulings ordering the integration of undergraduate classes at the University of North Carolina (Frasier v. the Board of Trustees of the University of North Carolina [1955]; Brown v. Board of Education [1954]).
