The NC State Libraries' Copyright and Digital Scholarship Center Records contain meeting minutes, agendas, rosters, and correspondence from the Scholarly Communications Subcommittee. They also contain correspondence and research concerning various issues of copyright law and education.
The Digital Scholarship and Publishing Center, now known as the Open Knowledge Center (OKC), was created to advise NC State Libraries on emerging issues of copyright law. As of 2025, the OKC is an incubator for communities, projects, initiatives, and programs that build on NC State’s strengths and leadership in public, open, and experimental approaches to research, scholarship, and education. It offers particular skills and expertise in copyright, licensing, open education, open science, and critical approaches to data and technology.
The Digital Scholarship and Publishing Center Records include a variety of files relating to copyright law in a university setting. The collected meeting minutes, agendas, rosters, and correspondence from the Scholarly Communications Subcommittee are included in these records. The Scholarly Communication Center's departmental files make up a large portion of the collection; they include letters to lawmakers, NC State University policies, and correspondence about copyright issues. Many of the collection's records were authored by Peggy Hoon, NC State University's first Scholarly Communication Librarian. Materials range in date from 1991 to 2011.
