North Carolina State University, NC State Alumni General Records 1886-ongoing

The North Carolina State University, NC State Alumni is the unit that engages alumni and friends through programs and services that foster pride and enhance a lifelong connection to NC State (https://www.alumni.ncsu.edu/s/1209/16/interior.aspx?sid=1209&gid=1001&pgid=4682, accessed 7/28/2020). This unit was formerly known as Alumni Affairs, Alumni Relations, and the Alumni Association. In 2026, "Association" was dropped from the name, re-branding it as "NC State Alumni."

The Alumni Association was established in 1895, six years after the first classes were held at North Carolina College of Agriculture and Mechanic Arts (now North Carolina State University). C. D. Francks was the first president of the Alumni Association.

The 1986-1987 narrative and pictorial histories of the university were published under the auspices of the Alumni Association. In September 2006 the Alumni Association moved into the Dorothy and Roy Park Alumni Center, built on the southern shore of Centennial Campus' Lake Raleigh. The North Carolina State University, NC State Alumni General Records contains correspondence, promotional literature regarding alumni issues, including membership in the alumni association, reunions, fundraising, and alumni news. Materials range in date from 1886-2010.

Also included in this collection are college stories from alumni, fundraising pamphlets for projects like the Memorial Belltower, and materials related to the proposed plans and designs for the Alumni Memorial Building (now Winslow Hall).
