Access to materials

Collection is open for research; access requires at least 48 hours advance notice. Because of the nature of certain archival formats, including digital and audio-visual materials, access will require additional advanced notice. Copies of unrestricted digital files will be provided for use in the SCRC Reading Room upon request. Access will be provided to use copies of unrestricted digital files rather than carrier media, such as CDs, DVDs, and floppy disks.

The North Carolina State University, Office of University Advancement Publications contain newsletters, brochures, and programs relating to various fundraising campaigns. Examples include the Lifetime Giving Society and the Century II Campaign. Materials range in date from 1942 to 2002.

The Vice Chancellor for University Advancement holds a position as an Executive Officer serving the Chancellor of the university. The Office of University Advancement strives "to facilitate communication, internally and externally, and to enhance the image of the University; to provide meaningful programs and service to alumni and friends; to seek service-support participation and ambassadorship from constituents; to build and sustain a strong volunteer leadership network; to raise money from private sources; to manage the collection of private gifts for North Carolina State University; to manage an effective alumni and development database and gift systems; and to coordinate with the General Administration in areas of government and legislative priorities in Raleigh and Washington" (https://leadership.ncsu.edu/advancement/ accessed 7/10/2020). The Office of University Advancement was previously known as the Office of Development.

Biographical/historical note

The Office of University Advancement facilitates communication about the University's successes, provides programs to alumni and friends, fundraises (including collecting private gifts), manages the alumni database and coordinates with Administration regarding priorities on the state and federal levels. It is comprised of University Communications, University Development, Advancement Services, and the Alumni Association.

The Office of University Advancement was previously known as the Office of Development.
