His teaching at the Stockholm School of Economics has focused on the use of discrete-event simulation, or stochastic dynamic simulation. The collection discusses General Purpose Simulation Systems (GPSS) and its derivatives -- Micro-GPSS and WebGPSS. Ingolf Ståhl is professor emeritus of the Stockholm School of Economics. Ståhl began teaching computer simulation in 1976. Since then, he has instructed over 7,000 university and high school students in five countries. Initially, Ståhl's courses featured General Purpose Simulation Systems (GPSS) language. Later, he collaborated with Henry Herper and Richard G. Born to adapt this language to simpler versions for personal computers and the World Wide Web.
