The North Carolina State University, College of Design Publications contains student, administrative, and American Institute of Architects publications. Promotional literature, product design, research, self evaluations, archived web content, and a numbered series of student publications are also included, as well as CD-ROMs and zip disks of some publications. The North Carolina State University School of Design was established in 1948 with two original academic components: the Department of Architecture and the Department of Landscape Architecture. In the late 1950s the school added a third degree-granting unit, the Department of Product Design. In its early years, under the leadership of founding Dean Henry L. Kamphoefner, the School of Design experienced a remarkable period of creative and intellectual development. Designers and theorists such as Buckminster Fuller, Matthew Nowicki, Lewis Mumford, and Eduardo Catalano joined the faculty and helped build a reputation for innovation and experimentation. Frank Lloyd Wright, Mies van der Rohe, Walter Gropius, Louis I. Kahn, Pier Luigi Nervi, Charles Eames, Marcel Breuer, and numerous other internationally prominent figures came to lecture, to conduct design experiments, and to inspire a new generation of designers. The North Carolina State University Division of Student Affairs Publications contain various internal and external publications produced by the Division of Student Affairs and its committees; the division's member groups, programs, and organizations; and by North Carolina State University students. This includes newsletters, magazines, bulletins, handbooks, course catalogs, archived web content, and other publications related to dining, housing, admissions, registration, financial aid, religious affairs, multicultural affairs, the arts at North Carolina State University, the Reserve Officer Training Corps, student health services, and international student affairs. A significant portion of the material consists of student media publications such as the Agromeck (yearbook), Windhover, and Red and White. The materials are dated 1889 to 2021. Working under their longstanding motto of "Students First," the North Carolina State University Division of Student Affairs works to provide "programs and services for students and the larger community to enhance quality of life, facilitate intellectual, ethical and personal growth, and create a culture which engenders respect for human diversity." In this pursuit, the member groups and programs of the Division of Student Affairs, including student media organizations, have produced a number of internal and external publications. In 2011, it merged with the Division of Undergraduate Academic Programs to become the Division of Academic and Student Affairs. Less
