The Ed Caram Negatives contain photographic negatives taken by Caram during his time as a student at NC State, from approximately 1969 to 1975. Topics photographed include athletics (particularly basketball and football), campus buildings, political rallies, student protests, outdoor events, concerts, daily student life, speakers, and the State Fair, among others. Negatives in Cardbox 13 and Microfilm Boxes 16 and 17 may have been taken by Nick England, another student photographer for the Technician. Ed Caram was a photographer for Student Media, with many photos appearing in the Technician student newspaper and perhaps the Agromeck yearbook as well. The J. Robert Cooke Papers contain a 1959 campaign button from Bob Cooke's campaign for student government vice president at NC State College, a 2013 video recording of an oral history interview in which Cooke recalls his life and career, and a 2017 listing of Cooke's publications and unpublished manuscripts and papers, and the Preface to the Directory of The Internet-First University Press, with cover letter, 2019. There are also historical materials compiled in 2022 on the occasion of Student Governments' Centennial. James Robert "Bob" Cooke served as vice president (1959-1960) and president (1960-1961) of Student Government at NC State College. He was active in numerous campus organizations such as Alpha Zeta, the College Union, and the Rules Committee. He graduated from NC State in 1961. In 1966 he began teaching at Cornell University. The North Carolina State University, Office of the Provost, Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, and Queer (LGBTQ) Pride Center Records, 1978-2025, document a portion of the history of the LGBTQ community on NC State's campus as well as the creation and function of the LGBTQ Pride Center (formerly the GLBT Center). The collection contains flyers, reports, surveys, news clippings, workshop and training materials, zines, photographs, archived web content, and posters. These materials and the digital files also included in the collection pertain to events such as LGBTQ History Month, Transgender Awareness Week, and Lavender Graduation, as well as workshops and trainings such as Transgender 101 and Project SAFE. There are also documents related to the 1980s LGBTQ student groups and organizations that were precursors to the LGBTQ Pride Center. Also included are artifacts including t-shirts, tablecloths, plaques, and sashes from Lavender Graduation. The digital files included in this collection cover organizations and clubs, events and event planning, and workshops and trainings given by the Center. The NC State LGBTQ Pride Center (formerly the GLBT Center) provides students of all sexual orientations, gender identities, and gender expressions with resources and programming to raise awareness, promote respect, and create a culture of equity, inclusion and social justice. The LGBTQ Pride Center's stated mission is to engage, develop, and empower members of the gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender, and queer/questioning communities and their allies. This is accomplished through lectures, counseling services, workshops, and developing supportive communities.
