Biographical/historical note

As-Sayeh, السائح [The Traveler] was a weekly Arabic literary magazine that was founded by Abd al-Masih Haddad (Albert A. Haddad) in New York City. It began in 1912 and continued to be published until 1957. Numerous Mahjar literary figures, who later became members of the Pen League, contributed articles and literary works to the magazine. In 1957, Haddad sold As-Sayeh to Raji Daher, who also owned the Arabic Lebanese newspaper Al-Bayan. As-Sayeh was then absorbed into Al-Bayan. Following the sale of the periodical, Haddad continued to be a columnist in Al-Bayan.
