The Commode Patent collection contains Alphonso Layfayette Ellison’s patent for a new and improved commode (toilet). The patent was filed on December 15, 1885 and was approved by the United States Patent Office on May 4, 1886.
This patent was created by Alphonso Layfayette Ellison (1855-1927). Ellison was from Greensboro, NC. He invented a new and improved commode and applied for his patent on December 15, 1885. On May 4, 1886 was approved. It includes specifications and descriptions of the new design.
The Commode Patent collection contains Alphonso Layfayette Ellison’s Commode new and improved commode (toilet) design. The new design features a removeable receptable so that "all offensive odors are prevented from escaping into the room or apartment." The patent includes schematics.
