This collection contains chemistry guides from 1922 and 1942. These chemistry guides were published by the D. Van Nostrand Company which was a prominent New York-based scientific publishing company in the 19th and 20th century.

Biographical/historical note

David Van Nostrand (1811-1886) was a New York City publisher. The D. Van Nostrand Company was founded in 1848. The company focused on publishing works by American authors on subjects like military affairs and science.

Scope/content

The 1922 chemistry guide is about inorganic formulas and includes an index for tabular forms. It also includes an ad page with the title “Three Helpful Books for Chemists”. The 1942 chemistry guide is about the periodic table of elements and includes atomic numbers.
