Collection includes one woven invitation from 1936 and a letter about the invitation that dates to 1991. Mary B. Norris shared a close relationship with the School (now College) of Textiles and kept the invitation as a memento.
Mary B. Norris, married to Garland C. Norris, lived in Cameron Park in Raleigh, North Carolina and became friends with Textiles professor John "Jack" Hilton. Norris became close with some of the Textiles students and helped pay their tuition and meals. Norris' daughter, Mary Neely Norris King, discovered the invitation and sent it to Textiles professor Gary Mock in 1991.
The invitation is for the Seventeenth Annual Students Exposition and Style Show, held on April 23, 1936.
