This collection contains the diploma of Hugh Williams Primrose for the degree of Bachelor of Science in Applied Sciences from the North Carolina College of Agriculture and Mechanic Arts, 1897.
Hugh Williams Primrose was one of six sons born to William Stuart Primrose and Ella Williams Primrose. He was born on January 21, 1878 and died January 27, 1904. He was a member of the graduating class of 1897.

His father, William Stuart Primrose, was a member of the original Watauga Club which helped found the college. William Stuart also served twenty years on the Board of Trustees, acting as chairman from 1887-1895 and 1897-1901. Primrose Hall was named for him.
