The Maddie's Fund Records contain materials pertaining to the The Shelter Pet Project PSA Campaign that Maddie's Fund launched in partnership with the Humane Society of the United States and the Ad Council.
Maddie’s Fund was founded in 1994 by Cheryl and Dave Duffield in honor of their beloved dog, a miniature schnauzer named Maddie. Its goal is to improve the lives of shelter pets and provide them with loving homes. Maddie’s Fund awards grant money to increase community collaborations, works to establish foster care as a standard across the country, educates about shelter medicine, and leads innovation in access to care.
In partnership with the Humane Society of the United States and the Ad Council, Maddie's Fund launched the Shelter Pet Project PSA Campaign in 2009. This ad project encouraged the adoption of shelter pets and helped reduce euthanasia rates in shelters by ten percent. Ads created were distributed via television, radio, print, web, and outdoors. They featured pets’ humorous perspectives of their owners. These advertisements were distributed to around 33,000 media outlets and were run on donated airtime (https://www.commarts.com/exhibit/the-shelter-pet-project-psa-campaign, accessed October 2024; https://www.maddiesfund.org/index.htm, accessed October 2024).
This collection contains videotapes, CDs, script notes, sound reports, paperwork, and a hard drive pertaining to the Shelter Pet Project PSA Campaign.
This collection is arranged in the order received.
