The North Carolina Trails Association Records consists of materials relating to the activities and functions of the North Carolina Trails Association. Dating from 1961 to 1986, the collection provides information on the creation and conservation of trails and trail facilities in North Carolina.
The North Carolina Trails Association (NCTA) was formed in 1977, organized in 1981, and chartered in 1982. William Flournoy was the first acting president of the organization. The purpose of the organization was to "promote the establishment and conservation of a system of scenic, recreational, and historic trails and related facilities in the state of North Carolina" among other goals. NCTA is no longer in existence.
