This collection contains original agricultural engineering drawings of agricultural buildings that Ritchie designed for North Carolina State University. The buildings were located at the university's agricultural research farms in and around Raleigh, North Carolina.

Ray M. Ritchie (1922-2004) was an agricultural engineer with twenty years of service to North Carolina Cooperative Extension. Ritchie was born in Charlotte Courthouse, Virginia, and he graduated from the Virginia Polytechnic Institute (now Virginia Tech). He worked for the North Carolina Cooperative Extension Service from 1949 to 1969. Afterwards he ran a consulting business that designed farm buildings across the United States.

Biographical/historical note

Ray M. Ritchie was an agricultural engineer with twenty years of service to North Carolina Cooperative Extension. He was born in 1922 in Charlotte Courthouse, Virginia, and he graduated from the Virginia Polytechnic Institute (now Virginia Tech). He served in the military and then worked as an assistant county agricultural agent, specializing in farm structure design. He worked for the North Carolina Cooperative Extension Service from 1949 to 1969. Afterwards he ran a consulting business that designed farm buildings across the United States. Ritchie passed away in Raleigh, North Carolina, on 15 September 2004.
