Noga is Professor of Aquatic Medicine in the North Carolina State University College of Veterinary Medicine, and Professor of Zoology, in the North Carolina State University College of Agriculture and Life Sciences, and Adjunct Professor of Marine Science at the University of North Carolina at Wilmington.

Edward J. Noga is Professor of Aquatic Medicine in the North Carolina State University College of Veterinary Medicine, and Professor of Zoology, in the North Carolina State University College of Agriculture and Life Sciences, and Adjunct Professor of Marine Science at the University of North Carolina at Wilmington.
Edward J. Noga received his Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degrees in biology from Florida Atlantic University. He received the Doctors of Veterinary Medicine degree from the University of Florida in 1982. Also in 1982, he joined the faculty at North Carolina State University as an Assistant Professor of Aquatic Medicine, and initiated the Aquatic Medicine program.
Noga's main interests involved the study of infectious diseases in finfish and shellfish, with emphasis on immune mechanisms and how these are influenced by environment and toxins. This includes ecotoxicology with emphasis on development of biomarkers for monitoring health of cultured and natural aquatic populations. Noga's laboratory is also heavily involved in the discovery and biochemical characterization of novel antibiotics from aquatic animals.

The collection is organized into three series. The Research series contains slides, project notes, research experiments and hand written notes related to infectious diseases in finfish and shellfish. Also included are published articles and other files related to the work of Edward J. Noga. In each of these groups, materials are organized chronologically. The DVDs series contains 14 DVDs in alphabetical title order. The series also includes one DVD in the Norwegian language. There is also an Unprocessed Papers series - these papers remain in the order received.
