The Ross Edward Shumaker Drawings consists of Ross Edward Shumaker's hand stenciled quote by Ralph Parlette, a drawing of a base for a flag pole, and a drawing of Eighth and Ninth dormitories for North Carolina State College of Agriculture and Engineering (later North Carolina State University).
Ross Edward Shumaker was hired as an associate professor of Architecture in the Department of Engineering at North Carolina State College in 1920. By 1921 Architectural Engineering became a separate curriculum under his direction. He also designed many of the buildings at North Carolina State College of Agriculture and Engineering.
Ross Edward Shumaker was a professor, architect, and founder of the program in Architecture at North Carolina State College of Agriculture and Engineering (1920-1955). Ross Edward Shumaker was hired as an associate professor of Architecture in the Department of Engineering in 1920. By 1921 Architectural Engineering became a separate curriculum under Shumaker's direction. Shumaker also designed many of the buildings at North Carolina State College of Agriculture and Engineering, including: Alexander (1939), Becton (1939), Broughton - Diesel Wing (1943), remodeled the kitchen in the Chancellor's Residence (1944), Clark Infirmary (1940), David Clark Lab (1939), Laundry (1940), east balconies of Leazar (1945), Morris (1926), renovations of Patterson (1930 and 1940), Riddick - Annex (1941), renovations of Tompkins (1939), and Turlington (1939).
