Feature Data Layers obtained 1999

The following county-wide feature data layers are available for New Hanover County. The data are in Arc/Info export format, State Plane 1983/feet. Detailed attribute table descriptions, including data dictionaries, may be found in the online data documentation (93k, MS Word).

Digital Orthophotos

As of 1999, black and white New Hanover County orthophoto flights had been most recently done in February 1998. Most of the county is available in 1 foot resolution (200' scale); the remainder of the county is available at 2 foot (400' scale) See below:

The orthophotos are available in the following formats:

• Original BILs: 25 mb tiles on ten CD-ROM's
• Individual MrSID files at 11:1 compression: one CD-ROM
• 1 foot county-wide mosaic at 10:1 compression: one CD-ROM
• A single combined 1'/2' countywide mosaic at 29:1 compression: one CD-ROM

Two shapefiles (index200 for 200' and index400 for 400') indicating image extent and CD-ROM number are available on the Geodata server at https://proxying.lib.ncsu.edu/index.php?url=http://gisdata.lib.ncsu.edu/localgov/NewHanover_County/1999/meta. The shapefiles are in State Plane 1983/feet.

Public download orthophotos: The New Hanover County GIS Download Site allows download of aerial photography from 1949, 1956, 1966, 1981, 1998, 2002, and 2006 aerials in .sid format.
