Prototyping VR worlds for the Web Workshop
Technologies are changing how we create and consume content, engage in human - human and human - machine interactions, and how information is contextualized within physical space. Using the web as an open and accessible platform and the browser as an increasingly powerful development environment, a rather young but rapidly maturing ecosystem of web-based virtual reality is being developed by the community and supported by foundations such as Mozilla.
Join artists Caroline Sinders and Mani Nilchiani, creators of the web-based VR experience Dark Patterns, for a VR workshop. This workshop serves as an entry point to designing and prototyping VR worlds. During this workshop, participants will work in groups to to ideate and prototype interactive web-based VR experiments using standard smartphone and Google Cardboard headsets. Participants will touch on general VR design best practices and gain hands-on experience in prototyping interactive VR scenes using A-Frame, an open-source WebVR development framework. Results will be shared in a group demo.
