About This Workshop
This session will guide researchers on participant centered study design as related to implementing surveys and any compliance related IRB issues that should be addressed.
Topics in this session include:
- Discussion of IRB related issues with varying modes of survey delivery (online, in person, devices used, software used, third party implementation, etc).
- Discussion of use of sampling frame and screening and how that is described in the IRB application.
- Issues related to compensation including collection of information for payment, raffles, etc.
- Collection of directly identifiable and indirectly identifiable information on the survey (including discussion of demographics and unique information).
- Participant privacy issues and data management regarding survey data.
- Designing your survey, questions, and scales as related to participant considerations including open ended questions.
- Assessing, mitigating, and communicating risks to participants from survey completion and data generation both to the IRB and to the participant.
- Completing surveys with minors and other populations with additional required considerations
- Survey Recruitment methods and use of email and social media.
- When evaluation surveys and research surveys overlap
- Relevant Applicable laws and regulations
There are no required prerequisites but completion of IRB Basics Part I is recommended.
