- If It's Broken, Try This First
Check that everything is plugged in on the PreSonus. If you're recording with the microphones, check the XLR cable hook ups and be sure they are not loose.
Check the XLR cable connection
Be sure the Presonus is on and set up correctly. If you want to hear audio from the speakers be sure the speaker knob is turned up. If you are trying to just listen through headphones, make sure the headphones knob is turned up. If the light on the Presonus is solid red, there may be a problem with the FireWire connection -- if this is the case, contact the Ask Us desk for assistance.

To set up the Global Sound Settings you'll first need to go into system preferences, then navigate to sound and be sure, under BOTH input and output, Presonus Firestudio is selected. You may need to scroll down a little bit in the selection window.
If it's not open already, launch Universal Control. After launch, you should see this. If this is not what you see then click "Load" and open up the "DEFAULTS.mix" to reset everything to defaults. If the light on the Presonus is flashing red and blue, this indicates the FireWire clock is out of sync -- reset the clock by switching the clock source in Universal Control to "S/PDIF" and then back to "MASTER."
