The Community Service Committee’s Crafting for Charity group met in March to put their crafting skills to charitable use. Selecting from a list of possible projects, they were able to complete 16 paracord survival bracelets (to be donated to Operation Gratitude) and get a good start on several knitted or crocheted preemie and chemo caps for UNC Rex Healthcare. Congrats to Tessa Minchew (lead), Shirley Rodgers (lead), Lisa DePinto, Shelby Hallman, Heidi Tebbe, Lynn Whittenberger, and Lara Herzellah for participating!
Plans are in the works to make this a regular event rotating between Hill and Hunt. The Community Service Committee will schedule the meetings and prepare potential projects/supply lists. You just need to bring supplies and your love of the hand-made. And you can still participate even if you don’t consider yourself a crafty person. The Project Linus no-sew fleece blanket is easy for anyone to make and can be completed in approximately two hours.
