Rachael Posey has been appointed Health & Life Sciences Research Librarian and Associate Director, William Rand Kenan, Jr. Library of Veterinary Medicine.
As Health & Life Sciences Research Librarian, Posey will support research productivity at the university by providing expert assistance across the lifecycle of research, scholarship, and pedagogy, as well as developing and managing research collections in the areas of health and life sciences. She will develop and deliver instructional sessions and workshops on library resources and research skills, and plan and conduct outreach to the One Health community. In her role as Associate Director, she will participate in management and leadership of the Library of Veterinary Medicine.
Posey was most recently the Pharmacy Librarian and Coordinator of Systematic Review Services for the Health Sciences Library, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (UNC-CH). There, she served as liaison librarian to the Eshelman School of Pharmacy, providing research and consultation services and teaching courses related to locating, managing, and appraising information. She provided specialized services related to systematic reviews for researchers in a broad range of disciplines and led library-wide initiatives to standardize these services. Prior to her appointment as Pharmacy Librarian, Posey served as Research Librarian/Research Assistant at the Cecil G. Sheps Center for Health Services Research, UNC-CH, as Research Analyst/Data Technician at Duke University Evidence-Based Practice Center, and as Web Developer at Process Innovations.
Posey’s recent professional activities include (with J.S. Walker) Quality of Data Downloads from Bibliographic Databases Frequently Used in Systematic Reviews, a paper presented at Medical Library Association (MLA) Annual Meeting, 2017. She co-taught Introduction to Systematic Reviews for Health Sciences Librarians, a two MLA CE course for the Mid-Atlantic Chapter of MLA. She has served as Editor, MLA Pharmacy & Drug Information Section, PharmGuide. Posey holds the Master of Science in Information Science, UNC-CH and the Bachelor of Arts in English, Duke University.
