Libraries shines at Unit Awards for Excellence

The Libraries were well represented at the Executive Vice Chancellor and Provost’s Unit Awards for Excellence. Nominees were honored on March 26 in the Mountains Ballroom at Talley, our own William Harnish and Lisa Madden among them.

Harnish won the Customer Service category and moves on to the next round of campus unit awards. In her nomination of Harnish, Ashley Morrison wrote: “Often during adverse weather situations, William displayed a commitment to safety and security by volunteering to come in and open the Libraries in the morning, even though he may have just worked the night shift. His colleagues have shared their admiration for William’s ability to place the needs of others above his own and have expressed their pride and confidence in knowing that he ‘has their back’ and is ‘on the job.’”

Sonoe Nakasone wrote of Madden in her nomination: “Lisa uses her mentoring and training skills to empower staff to work more efficiently and to develop their skills to accomplish that work. When any employee demonstrates interest in learning a new skill set in order to advance the workflow of the office, Lisa seeks out the resources and approvals to make sure that her co-worker receives the training to make it happen.”
