The Nightingale by Kristen Hannah is an emotional and intense read portraying the life of women in Nazi-occupied France during WWII.  The book follows two sisters who take completely different paths of bravery during the war.  Vianne must struggle to care for her two young children while her husband goes to war.  The other sister, Isabelle, takes a dangerous chance and joins the Resistance. This book depicts two different stories that connect deeply to the bond of friendship and the resiliency of the female spirit.
