Nomadland:Surviving America in the Twenty-First Century by Jessica Bruder

I heard the author interviewed on NPR about her 3 year live-in research among these 60+ year olds living off the grid. These “houseless but not homeless” folks refurbish vans, campers, and station wagons and move from seasonal job to seasonal job as a result of some financial disaster—loss of home, credit, health, etc. The solution for thousands of older Americans is unorthodox, but very interesting and now I look for these nondescript white vans with curiosity.
