Maps and Atlases
The NCSU Libraries' map collection contains print maps and charts which provide topographic, geologic and thematic coverage of North Carolina, the United States and foreign countries.
Atlases and many other publications also contain maps, so if you do not find what you need, please ask for help!
Location and Access
Please note changes! There have been several changes in the map collection locations in the past several years. The current locations are as follows:
- The latest print versions of USGS topographical maps for the state of North Carolina, in the 7.5 minute series, are located on the second floor, West Wing, North Tower stacks against the wall facing Hillsborough Street.
- All other maps have been moved to the Libraries' Satellite Shelving (LSS) Facility, including superceded North Carolina 7.5 minute topographic maps.
Maps can be delivered from LSS to the library location of your choice. By appointment, users affiliated with NCSU may also visit the LSS on Sullivan Drive and view maps in the reading room. Staffing at the LSS is very limited, so arrangements to obtain or view any map need to be made well in advance. Contact Jeff Essic at (919) 515-5698 or firstname.lastname@example.org to discuss making an appointment.
