MoreThe records of the North Carolina State University State's Mates include reports, programs, correspondence, photographs, clippings, bulletins, minutes, membership information, and yearbooks. The majority of the materials date from the late 1950s to the early 1970s. State’s Mates was organized in the fall of 1947 by the State College Woman’s Club as a bridge group. It was eventually reorganized to engage student’s wives in a variety of social and service activities including the Mrs. NC State pageant, fashion shows, and fundraising for the March of Dimes. The members also participated in frequent programs about various domestic issues ranging from decorating on a budget to coping with common marital problems. State's Mates remained active through at least 1977, but has since disbanded.
