Materials range in date from 1951 to 2010. The Committee on the History of the College was established in or before 1951 at North Carolina State College to coordinate the naming and dedication of campus buildings and roads, and to collect documentation on the history of the college. In 1972, the committee's name was changed to the Committtee on Commemoration, Institutional History, and Naming of Buildings; was changed again in 1977 to the Committee on Institutional History and Commemoration; and was changed sometime in the 1980s to the Institutional History and Commemoration Committee. This committee was formally dissolved in 2009.
