The records of the North Carolina State University Chapter of the Keramos National Professional Ceramic Engineering Fraternity contain their by-laws, annual reports, correspondence, membership rosters, financial information, meeting minutes, and other general information about the chapter and its activities. Also contained in this subgroup are records from the Keramos national office, including member directories, organization history, national constitution, by-laws, and operating procedures, publications, and materials submitted by other chapters and then re-distributed by the national office. The Keramos National Professional Ceramic Engineering Fraternity was established in 1902 to promote the interaction between professionals and students in the field of ceramic engineering. A chapter of the Keramos Fraternity was established at North Carolina State in or before 1941, and remained active through at least 1978, though has since disbanded. The Keramos Fraternity is an affiliate of the American Ceramic Society, a student chapter of which was active on the NC State campus for a period coinciding with (though slightly longer than) the activity of the Keramos chapter. The records of the Gamma Upsilon Zeta Chapter (North Carolina State University's chapter) of the Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity include their chartes and bylaws, financial records, reports to the national office of Lambda Chi Alpha, the chapter's history, and information on the Gamma Upsilon Zeta housemother and her book on the history of the chapter. Lambda Chi Alpha is a social fraternity that was founded in 1909 at Boston University. North Carolina State's chapter (the Gamma Upsilon Zeta Chapter) was installed in 1924, having been initially formed in 1920 as the Pi Alpha fraternity and then later petitioning to join Lambda Chi Alpha. The Gamma Upsilon Zeta Chapter became the 65th chapter of the fraternity at its installation, and remained active until 1998, when financial problems led to the closure of the chapter. Less

These records of the Leazar Literary Society at North Carolina College of Agriculture and Mechanic Arts (later North Carolina State University) contain information about the society's creation, leadership, and activities in the form of minutes, correspondence, newspaper clippings, and program announcements. A few items provide historical background on the Pullen Literary Society also. The Leazar Literary Society was organized on November 2, 1889, at North Carolina College of Agriculture and Mechanic Arts (later North Carolina State University). Its rival in debates and other intellectual competitions was the Pullen Literary Society, which was founded around the same time. The Marching Cadet Fraternity was established during the 1960-1961 academic year at North Carolina State to represent the university at public events, as well as to honor and acknowledge military service contributions of students and alumni. The records of the North Carolina State University company of the National Society of Scabbard and Blade include a national membership directory published in 1927 as well as the company’s correspondence and organization information. A short history of the national organization published in 1950 and a 1976 clipping from the Technician are also included. The North Carolina State University company of the National Society of Scabbard and Blade appears to have been installed at the college by 1922 and remained active through 1975. The National Society of Scabbard and Blade was founded during the school year of 1904-1905 at the University of Wisconsin to foster the ideals and practice of military education in colleges and universities. Scrapbooks contain photographs of many club members as well as their contact information and brief biographies. The Self-Help Club at North Carolina State College (later University) was created in 1927 as a fraternal organization which emphasized character, friendship, fidelity, loyalty, leadership, and service. The Young Democrats Club (YDC) has been the official youth arm of the Democratic Party since 1932. A chapter of the YDC was formed at NC State in or before 1954, as an organization for students with democratic political views to collaborate on ideas, and to promote democratic candidates running for various offices, both locally and nationally. The NC State YDC chapter remained active until at least 1986, but has since disbanded. Less

The records of the North Carolina State University Club Football team include the constitution and by-laws, membership rosters, clippings, promotional literature, annual applications to the university for renewal as a valid student organization, and paperwork documenting the denial of Club Football to continue, effective the fall of 1987. North Carolina State University's Club Football team was organized in 1970 to allow students to play football in a structured setting outside of the varsity athletic environment. Ultimately, the Club Football team was denied recognition as a valid university student organization as of 1987, for the cited reasons that there were other organized football programs on campus, including the varsity team and intramurals. As of 2008, a Club Football team has not been reinstated. Less

The records of the North Carolina State University College Station Credit Union contain meeting minutes, correspondence, by-laws, and a membership roster. Membership in the Credit Union was limited to professional individuals associated with NC State. The North Carolina State University College Station Credit Union was organized by a group of faculty members in 1932 to provide financing to members at reasonable interest rates and to ensure the safety of deposited funds. Members of the Credit Union voted during a meeting in February of 1947 to dissolve the organization; this action was carried out after the August meeting of that same year. Less

The North Carolina State University Employees Association was established in or before 1978 as a representative group for non-faculty/staff employees of the university, and was active at least through 1993. The records of the North Carolina State University Faculty Club contain meeting minutes, financial information, brochures and advertisements, information on the founding of the club and the construction of their building, and general information about the activities of the club. The North Carolina State University Faculty Club was founded in 1958 by members of the faculty who were interested in establishing a social organization specifically for faculty members. After obtaining a grant, the Faculty Club was able to construct their own building (finished in 1963, and then known as the Faculty Club Facility), which is located on West Campus. In 1998, the club expanded their membership requirements to allow broader participation by allowing staff members and alumni to also join. The name of the club was changed to the University Club, and their building was renamed the University Club Facility. The University Club continues to be active as of 2008. Less

The records of the North Carolina State University Food Science Club include the constitution and by-laws, correspondence, financial information, meeting minutes, membership rosters, photographs and slides, files from events put on and attended by the club, and other general information about the Food Science Club and its activities. Also included in the collection are files from other organizations that the Food Science Club worked with, such as the College of Agriculture and Life Science's Agri-Life Council, the Institute of Food Technologies, and other campus organizations. The North Carolina State University Food Science Club was established in or before 1962 to allow students in the Department of Food, Bioprocessing, and Nutrition Sciences to further their knowledge and understanding of topics in the field of food science, while also allowing for a closer relationship between students and faculty members in the department, and giving students and opportunity to serve in leadership roles on campus and in the community. The North Carolina State University Forestry Club was established in or before 1931 by undergraduate students studying forestry at NC State. The Forestry Club was responsible for funding and publishing a semi-annual newsletter, Slabs and Edgings, which was first issued in 1938. The Forestry Club remained active at NC State as of 2008. The North Carolina State University Judo Club was organized by students in or before 1971 to provide an organized forum to promote the sport on campus, as well as to provide students interested in judo the chance to compete with one another. The Judo Club remained active through at least 1981, but disbanded sometime between then and the start of the 1983-1984 academic year. The Judo Club was reformed at some point, and was known to be active in 2003, but it is uncertain whether they remained active past that year. Less

The records of North Carolina State University's delegation to the North Carolina Student Legislature (NCSL) contain a small amount of materials on NC State student delegates (including clipping, correspondence, rosters, and other general information), as well as materials from Legislative meetings, including committee reports, bills and resolutions, general information from meetings, the NCSL's constitution, and various items submitted by other universities in the Legislature. The purpose of the NCSL is to allow students a first-hand experience with the legislative process, while promoting public speaking and social networking skills development, and promoting the state-wide discussion of topics important to college students, often leading to proposals presented before local, state, and national politicians. North Carolina State University began participating in the NCSL in or before 1948. The university's student enrollment at that time allowed for up to twenty-five delegates to be sent to annual meetings (a figure which was used at least through 1978), though in some years, the university was represented by fewer than twenty-five students. Meetings of the NCSL were often held at the state governmental buildings in downtown Raleigh, just a few miles from the NC State campus. North Carolina State University maintained an active delegation in the North Carolina Student Legislature as of 2008. Less

The records of Company L-4 (North Carolina State University's company) of the Pershing Rifles contain their constitution and bylaws; meeting minutes; financial records; files on their events, competitions, and other activities; correspondence; and publications, including newsletters published by Company L-4, as well as publications collected from the company's overseeing regiment and the national office of the Pershing Rifles. Materials range in date from 1953 to 1977. The Pershing Rifles were established by General John Joseph Pershing at the University of Nebraska in 1891 to act as an honorary organization for members of the ROTC (Reserve Officers' Training Corps) program. The L-4 Company of the Pershing Rifles was established at NC State on February 7, 1953, and participates in ceremonies such as the Color Guard and the Pennant Guard for university and athletic events.
