The North Carolina State University Phi Beta Kappa Committee was created in 1977 at North Carolina State University to apply for a chapter of Phi Beta Kappa. Phi Beta Kappa is the nation’s oldest and best known society for recognition of academic excellence and scholarly achievement. The North Carolina State University Phi Beta Kappa committee chairman was Robert S. Bryan and the committee members were heads of selected departments. The committee was active through at least 1994, but may have dissolved shortly thereafter.

The national Alpha Delta Pi Sorority was established in 1851 as the Adelphean Society at Wesleyan College. It was the first secret society for college women. In 1905, the Adelphean Society's name was changed to Alpha Delta Pi. Chapters were installed at a number of colleges in the following decades, although the mother chapter was closed in 1916. The Zeta Beta Chapter at North Carolina State University was colonized in 1969 and installed in 1971, after an apparent false start in the late 1950s. The Zeta Beta Chapter remained active as of 2008.

MoreThe North Carolina State University, Student and Other Organizations, Alpha Epsilon Rho Records contain a meeting flyer, photographs, a scrapbook, and The Telecommunicator newsletter. Materials range in date from 1980 to 1985 but many are undated. Alpha Epsilon Rho, or "AERho," was formed in the 1940s as the National Honorary Broadcasting Society. The NC State University Chapter was founded in 1980 but appears to have become defunct around 1990. The chapter was established when a group of interested students met with Professor Ed Funkhouser and contacted the national office for application materials. An initiation ceremony was performed on February 25, 1980. The Society's purpose was to support and nurture students of broadcasting while offering opportunities for establishing relationships with professional broadcasters. Any student could join, as long as they met the GPA requirements and showed an interest in broadcasting. Over time, Alpha Epsilon Rho has evolved to become the National Broadcasting Society/AERho, also known as the National Electronic Media Association. It has expanded to include digital media, in addition to more traditional media such as television, radio, and film.

The Arab Club was established in or before 1958 at North Carolina State College (University) to act as a social organization for students of Arab background, as well as to promote Arab culture and heritage throughout campus at various events and activities. The Arab Club appears to have changed their name frequently, being known alternately as the Arab Students' Organization of Raleigh, the Arab Student Organization, the Arab Student Club, the Organization of Arab Students, and the Arab Student Association, though the name "Arab Club" is the name they most commonly used. The Arab Club remained active at NC State at least through 1989, though appears to have since disbanded.

The Association for the Concerns for African American Graduate Students was created as a student organization at North Carolina State University for all students seeking to address the needs, concerns, and interests of African American graduate students. This organization was recognized by the university in 1976 as the Association for the Concerns of Black Graduate Students. By 1983, it had become the Association for the Concerns of Afro-American Graduate Students and was renamed again in late 1984 or early 1985 as the Association for the Concerns of African-American Graduate Students. The hyphen was subsequently dropped, and the organization officially became the Association for the Concerns of African American Graduate Students.
