The North Carolina State University Phi Beta Kappa Committee was created in 1977 at North Carolina State University to apply for a chapter of Phi Beta Kappa. Phi Beta Kappa is the nation’s oldest and best known society for recognition of academic excellence and scholarly achievement. The North Carolina State University Phi Beta Kappa committee chairman was Robert S. Bryan and the committee members were heads of selected departments. The committee was active through at least 1994, but may have dissolved shortly thereafter.

This subgroup also contains some materials distributed by the national office of Pi Tau Sigma, primarily issues of their annual publication, The Condenser of Pi Tau Sigma. Pi Tau Sigma is the international mechanical engineering honor society, the purpose of which is to establish a means of fellowship and communication between individuals who study and practice mechanical engineering. North Carolina State's chapter, the Pi Alpha Chapter, was established in 1942, and is open to mechanical engineering students who either rank in the top 25% of their class as juniors, or top 33% as seniors. Graduate students in mechanical engineering at NC State whose undergratuate universities did not have a chapter of Pi Tau Sigma are also allowed to join. The Pi Alpha Chapter remained active at NC State as of 2008.

NC State's student section of the ASME was established in or before 1945 to allow mechanical engineering students at NC State to share in the practice of enabling mechanical engineers to contribute to the well-being of society. NC State's student section has remained active since that time, and in the 2000s has emerged as one of the most active student sections of the ASME in the world. The student section at NC State was once housed under the Region IV unit of the ASME; now, it is part of the Eastern North Carolina unit.

North Carolina State University’s Animal Science Club was started as the Animal Industry Club in 1936 by students interested in promoting livestock industries in North Carolina, and in providing interactions among students, faculty, and livestock producers. The name of the club was changed to the Animal Science Club in 1962 or 1963. The organization participated in a variety of professional, service, and social activities, including assorted programs, suppers, dances, competitions, and conferences.

The Association for the Concerns for African American Graduate Students was created as a student organization at North Carolina State University for all students seeking to address the needs, concerns, and interests of African American graduate students. This organization was recognized by the university in 1976 as the Association for the Concerns of Black Graduate Students. By 1983, it had become the Association for the Concerns of Afro-American Graduate Students and was renamed again in late 1984 or early 1985 as the Association for the Concerns of African-American Graduate Students. The hyphen was subsequently dropped, and the organization officially became the Association for the Concerns of African American Graduate Students.

The Collegiate 4-H Club at NC State was founded in 1940 as a supper club to foster fellowship among 4-H members at State College, to promote citizenship and leadership, and to acquaint members with Extension work. It was accepted into the Tri-state Federation of Collegiate 4-H Clubs in 1941 and remained active on campus until 1943. It was dissolved in 1944 and reestablished in 1950. Members engaged in a variety of activities including fundraising and community service projects. The club also participated in state, regional, and national Collegiate 4-H conferences. The Collegiate 4-H Club remained active at NC State as of 2008.

This collection also contains some materials produced by the International Headquarters of the Delta Upsilon Fraternity. Materials range in date from 1974 to 1993. [Alpha] Delta Upsilon, an international men's fraternity, was founded in 1834. The fraternity is committed to "building better men" through their four founding principles: friendship, character, culture, and justice. The North Carolina State University colony (chapter) of the fraternity was established in 1976, with the first class taking pledges in 1977. Through the 1980s, the fraternity stayed active on campus and participated in many activities, but was forced to disband in 1993, due to low membership. NC State University's Delta Upsilon colony was later reinstated, practicing a mission to: "strengthen Greek life at North Carolina State University by providing a vehicle for positive leadership, change, and growth," and remains active as of 2008.
