The records of the North Carolina State University Department of Animal Science contain correspondence, newsletters, memoranda, personnel records, archived web content, brochures and other publications, reports, and grant applications concerning animal husbandry, animal science courses, 4-H, swine evaluation stations, research stations, the North Carolina Cattlemen's Association, 4-H horse shows, horse husbandry and judging, the Dairy Herd Improvement Association, the Institute of Nutrition, and sheep. Also included are records of Swine Husbandry Extension. Materials range in date from 1920 to 2012. Beginning with research and programs in animal husbandry during the early years of the university, the Department of Animal Industry was established during the 1920s.
