Eugene (Gene) Wilson Brown (1938- ) was a Raleigh modernist architect who was known for his residential designs and downtown revitalization projects. Born in Oxford, North Carolina, and raised in a number of North Carolina towns, he graduated from Durham High School in Durham, North Carolina, and went on to receive a Bachelor of Architecture from the North Carolina State University School of Design in 1964, and a Master of Architecture and Urban Design from Washington University. He worked in University Planning at both NC State University and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and in 1982 established his own private practice in Raleigh, North Carolina.
