The Office of the Vice Chancellor for Finance and Administration at North Carolina State University was formerly known as Bursar, Treasurer, Controller, and Business Manager. Records of the Office date back to 1887, when North Carolina College of Agriculture and Mechanic Arts (later North Carolina State University) was founded. The mission statement of the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Finance and Administration is “serving the NC State community through innovation and action in the development and management of the University’s physical, financial, and human resources.”As of 2011, the Office consists of the following units: Business Operations, Campus Enterprises, Centennial Campus Development, Environmental Health and Public Safety, Facilities Division, Finance and Resource Management, Human Resources, and the Treasurer's Office. These units report to the Vice Chancellor for Finance and Business, and they provide infrastructure services essential to supporting the students, faculty and staff of the university. In 2015, the name was changed from the Office of Finance and Business to the Office of Finance and Administration.
