The Wim Dekok Animal Rights Collection consists of publications, leaflets, clippings, articles, correspondence, archived web content, and photographs from national and international animal rights organizations. These materials, mostly compiled by Wim DeKok, originated in many countries, including Germany, France, the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, and Australia. Consequently, they are published in a variety of languages, most notably English, German, French, Dutch, and Spanish. Topics include animal cruelty, vivisection, the meat industry, strays and pet keeping, whaling, fur, and bullfighting. The collection includes correspondence from Professor Sjoerd Hofstra (1898-1983) of the Netherlands, former Chairman (1961-1973) of the World Federation for the Protection of Animals.

While working in the Netherlands, the United Kingdom, and the United States, he has been active in and collected papers and documents on animal welfare and the animal rights movement for over 40 years.
Materials in this collection are primarily in English, French, German, and Dutch. There are also materials in Arabic, Czech, Danish, Irish, Italian, Japanese, Norwegian, Slovenian, Spanish, and Swedish.

DeKok grew up working on a dairy farm in rural Netherlands. He joined a humane farming organization and, in 1978, became its secretary general. He created national and international coalitions with animal protection organizations, governments, producers, and consumers. In 1987, DeKok joined the World Society for the Protection of Animals (currently World Animal Protection) where he founded their Dutch office and launched a communications campaign for the global NO Fur campaign.
In 2012, while living in Boston Massachusetts, De Kok founded and became executive director of Four Paws USA, a branch of a large international animal welfare charity, and also helped them establish branches in Australia, Thailand and Myanmar. He has initiated and co-founded more than ten animal protection organizations over the course of his career. Among them World Animal Net, a networking organization which transformed into the World Federation for Animals in 2020.
