Frequently Asked Questions

I've found a book in the catalog with the location "Books by Request". How do I get the book?

Books By Request is a program offered by the NCSU Libraries to try and better align book purchasing with documented needs of the campus community. Books identified for this program are listed in the library catalog. You can request books by clicking the "request item" link in the catalog record. We will purchase the book for the library collection and it will usually be available within 3-5 days of your request. You will be notified when it is ready.

Books By Request makes a much wider range of books findable by NC State users, and results in every book being a worthwhile investment.

This program is in addition to our other user-friendly services, including:

Tripsaver, whereby NCSU users may borrow needed materials from libraries both local and worldwide.
Suggest a Purchase whereby users may recommend items for library purchase.
