Frequently Asked Questions

How do I get to my 'K' drive/Unity/AFS space when using a library laptop?

First, open a web browser and authenticate with your Unity ID and password. This officially connects the laptop to the network and the internet.

Newer library laptop PCs have WinSCP, ExpanDrive, and WebDrive applications.
Older library laptop PCs only have WinSCP.
Open your preferred application from the program list, and use the following directions to access your AFS space:

- Click "New" in the top right corner of the window.
- Host name: "ftp.ncsu.edu"
- User name: Your Unity ID
- Password: Your password
- Click "Login"
- You can now browse and transfer files using the left pane (your laptop) and the right pane (your AFS space).

ExpanDrive:

- Drive Name: Anything you like, e.g. "My Unity Space"
- Server: "ftp.ncsu.edu"
- Username: Your Unity ID
- Password: Your password
- Click "Connect"
- You can now access your AFS space under "My Computer"

WebDrive:

- Name: Anything you like, e.g. "My Unity Space"
- Site Address/URL: "ftp.ncsu.edu"
- Click "Connect" in the top right corner of the window
- Username: Your Unity ID
- Password: Your password
