Coding Data for Easy Analysis

Category: Research

Tags: None

Have you ever looked at survey, observational or interview data and thought, "What does this mean?"  Do you have your own data in need of analysis and want to create documentation  that makes sense to others?  Join us for a hands-on workshop to learn from  best practices and others' mistakes, as well as develop a sample coding  scheme for data from human participants.

You will learn:

1. How codebooks explain the values and variables within a dataset as well as other contextual information  needed to understand the data.

2. How to efficiently  find inconsistencies between datasets and the codebooks they represent, as well as anomalies in the data such as missing data.

3. Documentation  strategies such as read me and do files that document analytic procedures to  facilitate their reproduction.
