Build Your Scholarly Website the Easy Way

Category: Research

Tags: summer of open science

Have you ever wanted your own professional website but don’t know where to start? In this workshop you will create a free website for professional use, with options for blogging, hosting syllabi, resumes or portfolios. You will learn three tools, including Jekyll, a static website generator, Markdown, for easily updating content, and Github Pages for freely hosting the site. At the end of the workshop, you should have your site up and running and know how to edit it.

Note: We will provide Mac laptops for use in this session. If you are more comfortable using a PC, you are welcome to bring your own or check one out from the library AskUs desk in advance of the workshop.

The NCSU Libraries Summer of Open Science is a series of workshops and meetups that support modern research practice through hands on skill building.
